Scholarship Opportunity

I'm not sure if this is open to seniors (I'll try to get confirmation from Marilyn), but I thought I would make everyone aware of a great opportunity:

The Haystack Mountain School of Crafts in Deere Isle Maine and the Department of Furniture Design at RISD are offering a scholarship to attend Haystack's summer conference, Design, Shaping the World and the World Shaping Us, on July 10 - 14. The scholarship includes conference fees, and room and board (transportation to and from the conference is not included.) The deadline to apply for this conference has passed, but it is being extended until Monday, March 21, 2011. Anyone interested should submit a proposal to Marilyn in the form of a paragraph that states why you want to attend the conference. Thats easy enough, right?

They have programmed the event with some really great presenters/instructors, including:
Rosanne Somerson - (no introduction needed)
Niels Diffrient - Ergonomics expert, task chair designer (among other things)
Robert Krulwich - co host of NPR's radiolab
Jack Lenore Larsen - textile designer
Ellen Lupton - Curator of Contemporary Design at the Cooper Hewitt National Design Museum

In addition to the intellectually stimulating and inspiring conference content, Haystack is known for being a beautiful place to spend some time in the summer.
