Here is the link to an article I posted on my own blog about a Surrealist furniture gallery opened in 1939 in Paris, just before the war. It was started by Leo Castelli, of all people, and I think the work shown might be interesting for anyone who is making "figural" furniture for their thesis collection. My favorites are the Emilio Terry decor for the Le Corbusier-designed apartment and the wardrobe by Eugene Berman.
